So I saw Battle Los Angeles (now correctly de-colonised, for all you punctuation pedants) last week but the ringing in my ears only just stopped. Guess I'd better do a blog post on it then.
Yup, just a storm of noise, barely-viewable action and no attempt at characters you gave a hoot about.
I keep coming back to District 9 - the aliens went from "focking prawns" to real, sympathetic characters and the initial dickweed became somebody you rooted for.
Battle LA was just "Hoorah! Shoot! Explosions!" until I got bored.
There was a bit in a smoky street, supposed to be tense. "There'll be a dog or a hobo in a minute that they nearly...yep there you go" as a dog ran out.
Hated this one. Lotsa yelling, shaky cam, and paper-thin characters. The plot...what plot? (Aliens invade, military shoots them)
I'm not a fan of Michael Bay, but this flick made me appreciate the pacing and style of Transformers so much more (still hate that flick though).
Huh, Summer Blockbuster in not all that good shock.
It's Aliens vs Shooty, this crap writes itself.
District 9 was the last Alien film to offer something new, even with explosions, motherships & soldiers.
Actually, going to watch that now.
"It's the sweety man...eh? Focking little prawn"
