Review: 9

9
We are told that 9 is brought to us by the visionary directors Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, which immediately conjures up images of gothic fairytale whimsy and flashy action. Although containing elements of both, this film is actually more like an epic adventure - and it's just a little too ambitious.

Burton and Bekmambetov promised some depths and visual orgasmo. Depths finished before it really started, the ending felt like soap opera Dues ex machina, blahdassdasdfifehfa, random stuff taken from Tom Cruise closet, etc. And visuals? First 3 mins were nice, then eyes got used to green-like mood and all was like an intro from a computer game I used to play with my Atari 800xe, back in 91'. Disappointment.

THATS what it reminds me of.
Usually I'm interested in what Burton is up to and the review paints it as interesting but it's not grabbing me for some reason. Little Big Planet meets Dungeons and Dragons was my impression.

Looks like LittleBigPlanet as written by Tim Burton in a bad mood.

This movie was so completely dull, which is a shame because the trailers were beautiful, and promised a much more interesting flick than what we got. The entire thing is the same formula played on an endless loop: one of the dolls gets captured, the other dolls go to rescue him, and then one dies. Rinse, repeat for an hour. Then we're gobsmacked upside the head with one of the worst, most uninteresting endings I've seen in years. Seriously, when I first saw this, I thought it was okay. The further away from it I've gotten, the more I've grown to really hate it.
