Review: Heartbreaker

Heartbreaker
Heartbreaker is the rarest of specimens - a really great romcom. It nails both the romance and the comedy elements of the equation. The reputation of romcoms is understandably rock bottom as the Aniston-fuelled shit machine continues to churn, so it's good to be reminded that decent romantic comedies are possible and what's more, enjoyable. Remember the heady rush you got after watching When Harry Met Sally? That's what Heartbreaker delivers.

French movies are almost always good! Vanessa is gorgeous as ever (yes, I'm aware of airbrushing) and Romain was also great dying of heart disease in "Paris" and very cute in "Le Divorce" (yes, even with Kate Hudson in it). Will probably want to see this one too.

Bless her, Vanessa Paradis will always be the girl that sang Joe Le Taxi to me.

Expect an American remake within the year starring Russell Brand and whoever is the flavour of the month, with a sidekick played by Shia LeBeouf or John C Reilly.

You know it will happen, and we all cry inside a little.

It sounds like the French Good Luck Chuck.

Bon chance, Chuckie!
