Review: Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda
Dreamworks have always played second fiddle to the almighty Pixar, churning out mostly second-rate films when compared to the Nemos and Ratatouilles of the world. Kung Fu Panda, though, may just make Andrew Stanton and friends worry that they have some serious competition. It goes without saying that the visuals are astounding -...

I agree, I thought it was a cut above the normal Shrek type shit they usually peddle. The scene with the blossoms was quite beautiful...

Dark Knight is 25 July, may have an IMAX screening coming up. When I know, you'll know. Officially w00ting my nuts off waiting for that one. But this is okay in the meantime.

What's with all these wimpy reviews Ali? I want to sink my teeth into a manly film. When's 'The Dark Knight' coming out anyway?

Didn't do it for me I'm afraid. I appreciated the little Shaw Bros nods but just felt like Jack Black being Jack Black again.
The intro was fantastic, and if the entire film was like that (minus the "hilarious" Black-isms) then 5/5. I don't know, just missed the mark for me. I think it depends on how much Jack Black you can handle.

Just saw this tonight. Seems like a higher standard of Dreamworks film to me. Really some lovely artistry; the animated intro was excellent and some of the location renderings are quite beautiful. Probably one of the most colourful films I've ever seen. Oh, and the fight scenes are great - the one on the bridge is awesome and befitting of any live action Kung Fu film.
