Review: Man On Wire

Man On Wire
On August 7th 1974, one man crossed the void between the two towers of the World Trade Center, 1,350 feet above the streets of New York - on a wire. No harness, no safety nets, no TV crew filming him. The only thing stopping him plummeting hundreds of feet was his own skill and determination; one quiver and he'd had it. The m...

"Still not seen this. Pandy, that mini-review read like you were drunk - you're not normally that expressive. Is it worth it?"

A Friday at 21:48? You need to ask? :D

There was already a feature on him a while back - think it was on BBC. He's got a spider-family with spider-kids, made from spider-sex - they were climbing up the pipes in his house.

I'm waiting for someone to make a movie about that 'Spider-Man' guy; the French dude who climbs skyscrapers with his bare hands. It's quite frightening really, probably more of a physical feat that Petits.

Thanks for the reminder.

It wasn't the best documentary but what a feat. It's true what Pand said though; everyone is entitled to their dreams, but at what cost?

Finally saw this tonight. Just awe inspiring really. Funny, charming, well made and utterly unbelievable - I lost count of the amount of times my jaw hit the floor. Superb.

After you attain your dreams, what is left? Uplifting and depressing at the same time, but what a way to get there. I found the movie absolutely unbelievable, yet it's something that happened. If you put your mind to it, anything is possible, but at what cost? Friendship(s)? Your soul mate?

too much for me, but I can see why people do it. 5/5

Fantastic film. Funnier than I expected it to be as well.

I am desperately trying to work a Kurt Russell/Goldie Hawn joke into this.

Desperate to see this. Love quirky little stories about triumph over adversity, logic etc. Even that poster is making me feel a bit sick. A bit like the beginning of Cliffhanger.

But I still can't say "Phillippe Petit" without singing "the sweetest girl I'm ever gonna meet" at the end of it. Philllllllllllipe Peteet.
