Review: Observe And Report

Observe And Report
Another month, another mall cop comedy. Or is it? The trailer does show current King of Comedy Seth Rogen sporting his shortest haircut ever, lusting over Anna Faris and kicking seven shades of shit out of pesky skateboarding yobs in quite the comical fashion. But look a little closer and Observe And Report is a disturbing study...

I watched this just now. I didn't laugh much, and didn't enjoy it really, overall. The climax made my jaw drop with incredulence, but I was left incredulent still by its consequences. I suppose, though, that if you look at it in the satirical-take-on-the-redemption-of-the-protagonist-in-film way, it works. Kind of hard to judge this on a fresh first view, for me, anyway, but if nothing else, it was refreshingly unique, and just might have a statement worth contemplation.

I'm waiting for Funny People, which has Seth Rogen being Seth Rogen, not Travis Bickle. I'll be honest, it looks five-star just from the trailer alone.

There's been some very questionable advertising in that case. This has been painted as a typical Rogen comedy.
