Review: Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World
Posted by Matt at 21:00 on 12 Jul 2012 Reviews A-Z
True fact: If everyone found out that life on earth was going to be snuffed out by a meteorite in three weeks' time, your average person is more likely to embark on a hedonistic riot of sex, drugs and anarchy than embark on a quirky odd-couple road trip in a last-ditch attempt to provide some meaning to their life. But hey, this is the end of the world as indie cinema knows it.

It's not funny enough to be a comedy and it's not well acted or written enough to be an affecting drama. It did nothing for me.

Imagine all those nuclear wars that would be unleashed...
Boys would have at last opportunity to test their best toys.

Yeah, sorry they do address this. Society has basically crumbled, but they meet a few people who are still doing their job as a way to help others or simply because they don't know what else to do. In this case, they've turned the burger joint into a place where people can do whatever they want.
I'm starting to think this might only make sense if you watch it.

I think they make a joke of it. They're a TGI Fridays-type place where everyone is insanely happy (because they are high).

Just looking at that pic above, is this a film where people still go into work, despite knowing they're soon going to die? I was hoping for better.
