Review: Stealth

Stealth
"We fly planes!" says Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx, in the trailer for explosion overdose Stealth, like he's explaining the plot to an uninterested four year old. Funnily enough, it might just be the market Stealth is aimed at. Now, don't get me wrong, I like big stupid action lobotomies as much as the next guy, but there's a point...

Eraserhead is good. Scary and confusing, but good. Give me fat-cheeked women in radiators over emo-planes any day of the week.

\"Don\'t worry...you can stay dry\" Ahahah. *ahem* Sorry. This was always going to be shite. Is it not even salvageable as something to laugh at?

A comments section on Stealth turns into a discussion on David Lynch. How the hell did that happen?

Don\'t worry...you can stay dry. I didn\'t care for Eraserhead. In fact, there are only two David Lynch films that I can even stand to watch (The Elephant Man and Blue Velvet), and I really don\'t think he\'s anywhere near as great as most cinephiles make him out to be.

Cult movies are the ultimate in \"my taste is better than yours\". Fair enough some films appeal to certain groups of people than others (avoiding talk of demographics and cliques), but if you dare *DARE* to list Eraserhead on your cult list, I\'ll swim the ocean and rip out your heart.

Sorry Monkey, but I love Buckaroo Banzai. It\'s one of the top 10 cult movies of all time. Hey, I feel another list coming on...

Buckaroo Banzai is such a good idea on paper, but the final result was a bit...muh. Didn\'t really work in MHO.

I think Rob Cohen is like a Michael Bay for pre-teens. Some of the shit in this movie would make even Bay cringe to be honest, not least an Emo plane that just wants to be left alone.

This movie looks like a genuine lump o\' shit, and personally I did a little happy dance when it tanked on opening weekend here in the States. Every now and again (though it happens VERY rarely), my fellow Americans actually manage to surprise me, and this combined with The Island flopping, was the most pleasant surprise of the summer.

On another note, I still can\'t believe that Stealth was written by W.D. Richter, the same man who had a pretty major hand in the greatness of both Big Trouble in Little China and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension. It just boggles the mind.

Can someone just tell me what happens so I don\'t have to see this packet of shitbisuits? I\'m guessing Robo-plane can\'t fly forever, unless it\'s in cahoots with Robo-refuellerplane, or powered by our evil sun (in which case it must fly once round the globe every 24 hours, bombing cities in it\'s path, thus making living around the Equator impossible). Or it crashes, or one of the actors flies his plane into it, leaving the other free to get the babe at the end. Yeah?

Found this quote attributed to Paul Ross regarding this movie: \"I\'d even go as far and say it\'s the most entertaining action film of the year so far.\"

Can\'t confirm whether it\'s genuine or not though.
