Review: The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk
It's no real mystery that Ang Lee's Hulk failed to set the box-office alight. What do you expect when you hire the director behind films like The Ice Storm and Sense And Sensibility to adapt a comic-book about a big green ball of rage? You get what you pay for. For Hulk 2.0, Marvel have realised just that, and in hiring the dire...

It might be the loudest movie I ever saw. That's something, I guess. I reckons they'll totally CG up the Hulk for the Avengers movie so Norton won't be able to set his beady eyes on the script any more.

Oh, and the most ridiculous bit? The scene where Hulk puts out the chopper fire by -clapping- at it. like a spaz.

Well, I finally got round to watching this at the weekend. Quite enjoyable for what it was - an undemanding, utterly average, totally pedestrian walk in the park.

I never liked the hulk until I watched this movie, one reason is because I am an Edward Norton fan :P even still...
I had alot of fun watching it, I'd say it was much improved only because the Hulk is what he is, a big green pile of mass destruction. ^.~ and action is necessary, I love action.
I would love to see Edward Norton and Robert Downy Jr. in a movie together, ..without shirts..teehee.~ fighting er..*cough* yeah fighting. Anyway, I thought Tim Roth kicked ass! I loved him in Reservoir dogs! Mr. Orange! I hope he returns too! or did he get killed..? >.>

Read rumours that Hulk could be the villain in the Avengers movie. That smile at the end of the movie could be interpreted another way. That'd be pretty cool.

Captain America was frozen in the Arctic at the end of WWII, after falling in the icy water. He was discovered by the founding members of the Avengers (Hulk included) and defrosted in present day

Probably just easter eggs leading towards The Avengers film.

Yeah, there's probably a better film in there somewhere but I think the Marvel suits were very conscious about making this as far removed from Lee's version as possible - that means no talking and more SMASH!

Apparently there's a scene with Captain America in, an arctic scene which was removed from the final cut. No idea what that's all about. You do see the super-serum which made him though.

The story goes that there is an additional 75 minutes of removed footage, containing dialogue from Norton's script, which will probably go on the DVD.

Seems to be a new studio trick to combat bootleggers - I Am Legend did the same thing with the "proper" ending. Or am I just a cynical old wanker? Don't answer that.

Exactly as I thought, utter utter dross.
Norton had a hand in writing? What bit was he responsible for? The cliche Army General Villian? The slightly bonkers scientist who cannot see the downside to the experiment? The dewy-eyed love interest who understands and doesn't judge?
Plot was written on a fag packet down the pub and the rest is like watching an Xbox 360 cut-scene. I mean come on, a 10minute punch-up between CGI characters? Where's the drama and tension in that? I think that whole finale was summed up with Army Villain shouting to the gunner "Help him!"
"Which one?"
"The green one!!!"
Characters reduced to that level of simplicity. You had The Green One fighting The Other One.
*shakes head*
They spent millions on this turd.

Ang Lee was asked how he felt about the new Hulk franchise continuing after his poor first effort. "I'm angry," he said. The reporter replied: "Yes sir, we know who you are, but we want to know how you felt."

Arf. Casual racism ftw.

I can see the Hulk franchise continuing down the same route as the Punisher franchise. First impressions count - and unfortunately Ang Lee brought a minger to the party.

Pretty much a reboot, although apart from a quick credit sequence - which says everything Ang Lee's movie did in about 90 seconds - it could be a sequel I guess. Works best if you just think of it as a new start.

So... is this like some weird prequel/sequel or just a totally seperate film with the same pish?

I don't mind CGI personally but just never been bothered with the Hulk.

Nope, not interested. I have a deep dislike of CGI mixed with the real world. It's like watching the old martial arts films and being able to see the wires. I would much rather have a Lou Ferrigno/Puppet based style with the occasional CGI when necessary.

Yes, your box-office prediction sounds about right. I believe Hulk will be a smash.

Absolutely zero interest in watching this for any reason at all.
I liked Ang Lee's version, because I like Ang Lee and his constant themes of repression and unspoken emotions. And Jennifer Conolly.
This however would be as much fun as watching a mate play the Hulk videogame and charging me £8 for the privilege.
Nah, more "Gone Baby, Gone" for me please.
You can poke Hulk where the light don't shine.
