Top 10 Coolest Commercials By Movie Directors
Advertising is now as big a part of movies as actors or special effects - it's a cold, hard fact of life that wherever there are eyes trained on a screen, there'll be some pen-chewing dickwad executive willing to cram a commercial on it. Product placement is all well and good, but what's the next logical step? Instead of forcing...

Forgot this one, liked it but didn't realise it was directed by Guy Ritchie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anwlpTgbQTE

I have my own 1st place, which is "Levi's - Odyssey" from january 2002, directed by Jonathan Glazer, director of 2 movies only.

This is the video, judge and comment:

Hey, I can see why you don't like the Baz Luhrmann ad, but I have to say, there is at least one that is even worse than that : the "Romeo and Juliet" H&M ad by David La Chapelle. Here's the link : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKdWFC9T9ps

Are you kidding me? no director trademarks for Terry Gilliam. The ad looks like it could have been filmed on the set of twelve monkeys. So next time you try as you might.... try a little bit harder.

It's more satisfying knowing they didn't use it. That's something I'd like to see - a top ten list of adverts that were rejected (and no not that animation which is cool but still). But then this is a movie site so er, I best set up an advert review site in competition. I'll call it the saleznit and I'll start by reviewing all adverts for pantyliners and vaginal thrush cream

"I love to dance!"

Yeah, for $4m you'd love to eat your own shit if that's what I told you to do. Fucking dreadful advert.

I also love Clair De Lune but am dismayed to see it's being used for bank adverts etc. Doesn't feel right.

I love the Gap advert the mostest (hence the high position). Makes me smile every time the woman ploughs her car into the store.

Yeah, I quite liked that No.5 one when I first saw it.
Then again, I'd no idea what it cost.

I swear I used to like that Baz Luhrmann commercial. I enjoyed watching every one of those adverts (even that 9 minute one which isn't as great as you say I think) but that one I just paused it and moved on, no thanks. I love Clair De Lune but that's no excuse really. I wonder why I liked it, probably the music.
