Resident Evil: Retribution has a trailer - that's number five, for those keeping count. It's the zombie franchise that JUST WON'T DIE. How does it keep going? Corporate sponsorship, from the looks of it.
I saw Mission Impossible twice and didn't notice any overtly fascist product placement at all. As long as it serves the story - a gadget-heavy action franchise, for example - then I don't mind. But flogging Sony phones in a trailer for a zombie movie is pretty much PURE EVIL.
It almost feels like the studios have given up trying to hide the fact that product-placement is a big part of movies now.
Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol with the Canon camera outside the Kremlin and all the Apple devices was sickening enough, this is just another level.
