Review: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Straight off the bat: this movie features more shots of muscle-bound men looking up at the camera and yelling "RAAWWWRGH!" than any other I can remember. It's the shoutiest film of the year: guaranteed. But in the X-Men Origins universe, cursing skywards is short-hand for tragedy - it's emotion, spelled out in capital letters in...

12 tonnes of Max Factor and really bright lights?
I love that effect in X3, it makes them look like the Cuprinol treeman from the 90s.

I think the surprise character was real but they used the same "de-aging" effect they used in X-men 3.

Meant to ask - is the surprise character in the scene at the end (the escape scene with the helicopter) CG? He sure looks it but IMDB gives him a credit - as uncredited - and the trivia section mentions a filming location. Looked very odd.

I've never seen a pirated movie that tells you not to pirate, nor a non-pirated film that doesn't.

It had a goddam "pirating DVDs makes you a pirate!" trailer before it too...I know, that's why I bought the flipping thing arghaghrgh!

Well, that was certainly one of the more "challenged" films of recent times.

Make sure you gaze at the sky and yell "NOOOOOO!" like in the poster.

So, is this worth seeing then? Might go tonight. Might not. It's an adventure.

I'm wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt today. If I cut off the sleeves it'll probably pass as an attempt at cosplay. With less muscles, hair and more mantits.

*thinks*
Actually you're right.

They should make a Tigerman movie.

So you're telling me if you were down TK Maxx buying some socks, and you saw a little mongoloid guy dressed as Elvis squaring off against the security, you wouldn't hang around and egg him on?

X-Men was good fun, X-Men 2 was not so good with too much "coming out" and "being accepted" subtexts.
I never saw the 3rd one and can't even be arsed to download this one.
Iron Man, however, was fantastic fun and looking forward to the next one.

I have absolutely no interest in watching a vest-wearing Elvis looking mongoloid fighting.

Action Jackman!

Also, Iron Man is awesome. I had Spider-Man 3 on in the office the other day and couldn't believe how overlong, over-complicated and embarrassing it was second time around.

Look at the poster. That's the movie, in picture form. Jackman in a tighty-whitey, bellowing at clouds.

Iron Man ruled. I need a suit like that.

And an assistant like that.

The trouble with Iron Man is that it thought it was this amazing mixture of filmmaking and geek culture, when really it was just a boring script and Downey Jr. doing his usual lovable-bastard schtick, with cameos from Favreau and Stan Lee. Then the two digibots went NEEEEOOOW KERPOW!

Fuck George Lucas.

YOU are a silly man. Have you not seen DareDevil?

You are a silly man. Iron Man = best non-Dark Knight superhero movie ever.

Hulk is worth seeing imho but the back of Vin Diesel's head has more character than that Iron Man film.

"filling in for Brian 'can't hold down a character' Cox" made me laugh.

I just don't look forward to comic book movies in the way I used to. Won't bother with this, and still haven't seen last year's Iron Man or Hulk movies.
