15. THE BIG LEBOWSKI (1998) |
MALIBU POLICE CHIEF (LEON RUSSOM) |
The situation: Famed stoner and trouble-maker The Dude has been dragged in front of Malibu's finest. He is not paying attention. The insult: "Let me make something plain. I don't like you sucking around, bothering our citizens, Lebowski. I don't like your jerk-off name. I don't like your jerk-off face. I don't like your jerk-off behavior, and I don't like you. Jerk-off." Why it rules: It's not so much the insult as the response it receives. |
14. DETROIT ROCK CITY (1999) |
HAWK (EDWARD FURLONG) |
The situation: Hawk and friends attempt to sneak into a KISS concert in 1978, but not before a random Guido beats them down and asks: "Have you learned your lesson yet, puke?" The insult: "If the lesson is you're a dick with ears and a really bad haircut, yeah, I'd say I've learned my lesson." Why it rules: Because you're picturing a dick with ears and a bad haircut right now, aren't you? |
13. PARENTHOOD (1989) |
JULIE BUCKMAN (MARTHA PLIMPTON) |
The situation: Young Martha is not impressed by the amorous actions of a younger Keanu Reeves. The insult: "I wouldn't live with you if the world were flooded with piss and you lived in a tree." Why it rules: Such imagination, such filth - imagine the aftermath of a urine-tinged Day After Tomorrow and you'll see this is a powerful diss. |
12. THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK (1987) |
ALEXANDRA MEDFORD (CHER) |
The situation: Cher delivers a thumping put-down to smarmy Jack Nicholson's devil in a suit. The insult: "I think... no, I am positive... that you are the most unattractive man I have ever met in my entire life. In the short time we've been together, you have demonstrated every loathsome characteristic of the male personality and even discovered a few new ones. You are physically repulsive, intellectually retarded, you're morally reprehensible, vulgar, insensitive, selfish, stupid, you have no taste, a lousy sense of humor and you smell. You're not even interesting enough to make me sick." Why it rules: Big Jack doesn't get shot down like that every day. |
11. MEAN GIRLS (2004) |
DAMIAN (DANIEL FRANZESE) |
The situation: Official boy-toy of popular school clique The Plastics, Damian spies a short and ugly girl emerging from a cubicle in the girls' bathroom. "Hey, get out of here!" she yells. The insult: "Oh my God! Danny DeVito! I love your work!" Why it rules: The only person it could insult more than that poor girl is Danny DeVito himself. |
