Avatar clip: meet the Thanator

More Avatar footage? Why James Cameron, with this drip-feed of information you are really spoiling us! Check out one of Pandora's big bads: a cross between a panther, a crocodile and, er, a monster.
I think by now it's obvious I'm a fully fledged Avatard. I can already picture myself defending it after it's come out and everyone claims it was 'okay'. No matter how over or underwhelming the finished film turns out, you have to bow down to a director who not only creates an eco-system for his fictional alien planet, but a brand new alien language to boot. That's not attention to detail, that's autism.
Speaking of Pandora's flora and fauna, say hello to one of its more veracious predators, the Thanator. This chase scene honks a little bit of King Kong/Jurassic Park/every creature feature you've ever seen - quickly, hide in the small space that still allows the beast's jaws to snap at you! - but it looks awesome all the same. The facial animation alone looks stunning, let alone the bloody great panther-snake trying to eat said face.
Circle December 17th on your calendar and continue scribbling in your diary: AVATAR AVATAR AVATAR AVATAR AVATAR.
