Chris Nolan tells us something we already knew: he's almost certainly going to direct the next Batman movie. File this under 'There would be terrorist atrocities committed if this didn't happen'.
I think I've said this before, but the more new movies Christopher Nolan makes, the less I care about his Batman movies. I queued up in my Batman pyjamas for
The Dark Knight like the rest of you dorks, but
Inception and The Prestige are two of my favourite films of the last ten years. I'd much rather see another original idea than the continuing adventures of Christian Bale's ticky tonsils.
Empire magazine got a chance to speak to Christopher Nolan and they finally managed to coerce a statement out of him regarding
Batman 3, on which he's remained frustratingly quiet. When asked if he'd be directing, Nolan replied:
"It's becoming inevitable, I'll put it that way... I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I'm pretty excited about what we're doing so... If I haven't announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I'm doing it."
Wow, this has really got me jazzed. The non-commital way he says "I guess" and how he's "pretty" excited is getting my pants wet with anticipation. And I'm wearing Batman pants! This sentence is perfect!
