Chris Nolan to 'mentor' new Superman

After Bryan Singer was judged to have dropped the ball with Kal-El's Big Gay Adventure, DC Comics have turned to a tried-and-tested superhero director for guidance on their new Superman movie: Christopher Nolan.
As a nerd, naturally Christopher Nolan holds godlike status for me, despite looking like he should work on an Asda checkout. What he did to Batman after he was buttfucked by Joel Schumacher cannot be overstated - he turned a laughing stock into a box-office beast and created two of the greatest superhero movies ever made. That's the Asda difference.
However, given the amount of attention Nolan gets because of this, you'd think the last thing he'd want to attach himself to is another superhero franchise, arguably one with an even bigger stigma attached to it. I don't expect he'll get much respite during press for Inception, which might as well have been called 'Just Make Another Batman Already'.
Unbelievably, DHD are reporting that Warner Bros have recruited Nolan's help to oversee their long-gestating new Superman project. Nolan will not write or direct, but will 'mentor' whichever talented music video director they hire for the job.
I'm guessing this will mean lots of inspirational speeches, back-rubs, weight-lifting montages and Nolan's emotional death on the eve of the premiere.
This is the first 'mentoring' I'm aware of - seems like a hands-off type of deal that's in place to please fans and persuade them the studio know what they're doing. If he's not involved in writing or directing, what is he doing? Should the movie be a success, Nolan will get the credit; should it crash and burn, he can simply play down his involvement. Everybody wins. But especially Batman wins.
A new Superman movie has been touted ever since Superman Returns failed to gain super returns at the box-office (see what I did there?). The studio were reportedly unhappy with the amount of action scenes and weren't too impressed with the love story angle and the 'will Superman die?' nailbiter ending. And obviously when I say 'the studio', I of course mean me.
