David S Goyer, the writer who co-wrote Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, has been hired by Warner Bros to pen the new Superman movie, currently codenamed The Man Of Steel.
Latino Review have got hold of a major scoop: David S Goyer has been recruited by Warner Brothers to write The Man Of Steel, the new name for the new Superman reboot.
For the unintitated, Goyer has his finger in many comic-book pies. He co-wrote Batman Begins and advised on The Dark Knight, and also penned the Blade trilogy ("Cock-juggling thundercunt" is all his) plus other projects too numerous to mention. He's also involved in Chris Nolan's new Batman movie; Nolan is said to be mentoring this new Superman project. There's definitely some mutual DC superhero back rubs going on here.
Before you get too excited, it's worth remembering that Goyer wrote and directed The Unborn, a horror movie that thought a dog with an upside down face was scary. So there's that.
Latino Review also spilled some other details, which might disappointed the Superman Returns fans out there. (Just kidding). They claim that Lex Luthor and space alien Braniac feature in the script (unwelcome echoes of Kevin Smith's script there), that Brandon Routh will not be returning as Kal-El, and that Bryan Singer will not direct. Singer is said to be bummed. (*childish snigger*)
Say what you will about DC Comics (i.e. they're the Canada to Marvel's America) but they're at least going about this new Superman movie the right way. And when I say the right way, of course I mean 'paying a bunch of guys who already did something similar a buttload of cash to kind of do it again'. It's the American way.
