Doug Liman looking to kill at the box-office with his next film

Director Doug Liman may be punching the clock for Warner Bros as he is in the running to helm an adaptation of the ridiculously titled Japanese time-travel thriller, All You Need Is Kill. The only catch is that they've set a firm start date, and now it's a race against time to get the film under way. Relax. I think that's all the time related gags I can think of at the moment.

All You Need Is Kill (seriously, ugh) is a graphic novel that tells the story of a young soldier who is caught up in a war with the Gitai, a savage alien race out to conquer Earth. The new recruit dies on the battlefield, but thanks to Science™, he is brought back to life again and again. With each new iteration, he learns new skills that will help him battle the alien horde.

Liman is probably best known for directing the The Bourne Identity and probably most reviled for directing Jumper. He is currently overseeing an adaptation of The Three Musketeers for WB, which is probably the only thing preventing him from being attached to this project, which would have to start shooting next spring at the latest if the studio wants to hold on to the rights. But hey, screw taking the time to craft a quality product, they've got a deadline to meet!

There is no word at this time if tentacles are involved in any way, but since this is a Japanese comic book, I'm sure they found a way to work them in there somewhere.
