Fantastic Mr. Fox poster is quirky, colourful

Shock: the poster for the new Wes Anderson movie features characters dressed in a quirky fashion, garish colours and Jason Schwartzman.

Empire have debuted the new poster for Wes Anderson's adaptation of Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr. Fox.

This looks kinda fun, but I don't get how Michael Bay and George Lucas are accused of molesting myriad childhoods for their efforts, but indie hipsters like Wes Anderson and Spike Jonze can feel up as many 'beloved' childrens books as they like, without fear of nerd uprising.

Fantastic Mr Fox was one of my favourite Roald Dahl books (up there with Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and The Twits) but I can't really get behind it in this form: it stars George Clooney and Meryl Streep, for starters. A-listers slumming it doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Throw in annual cameos for Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, characters wearing scarves and the fact that Anderson allegedly directed the entire movie by sending his London animators stacks of DVDs and harrassing them via email, and you've got a director that, if not molesting your childhood, is at least looking at it a little funny.
