Sons of Anarchy show-runner Kurt Sutter has accused Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner of monopolising AMC's funds. On Twitter. Then basically ran away. Doesn't anyone know how to fight any more?
In the wake of executive producer/general creative head honcho Frank Darabont leaving The Walking Dead, Sutter tweeted:
"
"
why darabont got fired - weiner. he held AMC hostage, broke their bank, budgets were slashed, shit rolled down hill onto gilligan and frank"
"
no one else wants to fucking say it, but the greed of mad men is killing the other two best shows on tv -- breaking bad and walking dead.So he's saying that Weiner's negotiations over Mad Men's next season forced AMC's hand and they couldn't afford to keep Darabont on The Walking Dead, and also that it made it harder for Vince Gilligan to get them to agree to a fifth season of Breaking Bad. (It has now been officially renewed for that fifth run though, as I reported here.)
Well hell, I don't know jack 'bout no high finance or nothin', but what I do know is that, if it comes down to a street-fight between the Sons of Anarchy and the Mad Men, this is the scrap you're looking at.
I'm not a betting man, but in my experience you never lose if you back the guys with the pipes and bicycle chains.
