Mitch Hurwitz finally starts work on Arrested Development movie

It's been on, off and even "hypothetical", but the Arrested Development movie has officially begun production with news that creator Mitch Hurwitz has started on the script.
The Hollywood Reporter are reporting from Hollywood that Hurwitz has begun preliminary work on the much-touted Arrested Development movie script, with co-producer James Vallely also contributing. Presumably they know this because they've been peeking through Hurwitz' office window for months. It looked like he started writing the script last week but he was just downloading 'Mr. Wendell' from iTunes.
The Arrested Development Movie is an ongoing source of much consternation for many middle-class white people. Cruelly cancelled back in 2006, despite being pretty much the best thing on TV at the time (go Fox!), the last gag of the series mentioned the possibility of turning it into a movie.
But, seeing as turning it into a movie would mean any commoner with a grubby fistful of cash could see it - risking it becoming, ugh, popular - thoughts are generally mixed on AD's upgrade to film. Even the cast seemed to think better of it, Michael Cera being a long-time hold-out (calling the movie "more hypothetical than you think" - ha, eat it, George-Michael) and star Jason Bateman wondering if its ship had sailed.
The news that Hurwitz is forging ahead makes us happy, but also a little queasy - kind of how you feel after eating too many Craz-E burgers.
Still, Hurwitz always said that he wouldn't bother with an Arrested Development movie unless he had a great story and every single cast member on board, so unless Jessica Walter or Jeffrey Tambor die before next summer, expect Gob's chicken dance to be the new hit of the playground some time in 2010.
