So there we have it - the nominees are pretty much as expected, although there's not a huge amount of love for the recently crowned highest grossing movie in the world, which is sure to displease the hardcore Avatards.

There also a few welcome surprises, such as an actor nod for The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner, and In The Loop making the cut for best adapted screenplay.

And yet, despite the furious internet campaigning, there was still no mention of Sam Rockwell or Duncan Jones for Moon. It's a bloody outrage! ...etc.

What does everyone think? Let the venting and predictions begin.

Yawn- so obvious Avatar would be nominated for most things and will probably win too- im sorry but that guy owns enough Oscars and i dont even think he deserves the ones he's got- Titanic....bigger yawn- couldnt wait for them to die at the end!
I really hope District 9 does well- but sadly i think against Avatar it doesnt stand a chance. Shame theres no nod to Sharlto Copley who i honestly thinks deserves it most.
I know Meryl Streep is an obvious choice Ali- but exactly as you said- she is good in everything so why does that mean she doesnt deserve to be nominated?! She was amazing in Julie & Julia, although so was Amy Adams.
Totally agree that 500 Days of Summer not being recognised is ridiculous! Def think it should be up for best screenplay, was hoping Marc Webb would be nominated for directing and definitely hoped Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be in there but knew he wouldnt be- i dont think anyone has bought a character to life like that guy but i knew it would go unrecognised awards wise.
How Where the Wild Things Are is not nominated for adapted screenplay is beyond me!
Hey ho, all boring nominations yet again! Just makes it more boring when you know one film will prob get the lot!
