Warning: above headline may be paraphrasing somewhat.

I like Sylvester Stallone, which should mean absolutely nothing to anybody, other than the fact that it makes what I'm about to say even more piquant: the idea of a Rambo prequel, starring a younger actor in the title role, might be an even worse idea than Rambo 5: John Vs The Rage Monster.

Speaking at Comic-Con, the man with arms like giant veiny mutant penises mulled over the idea of a Rambo origin story when asked by an Ain't It Cool nerd about the possibility of a First Blood prequel:

"
"
"I certainly think this is worth pondering because it's intriguing to find the whys and wherefores of how people have come to become what they are. The traumas, the loss and the tragedy of being in Vietnam would certainly be a great challenge for a young actor and it would be ironic that Rambo directs younger Rambo after having played it for 20 plus years."
If the suggestion came from an AICN messageboard user, perhaps Sly should call it 'First! Blood'. Anyone?

I reckon The Expendables will probably be Sylvester Stallone's last quote-unquote 'action movie' as an actor, and he'll turn to directing to get his kicks now he's old enough to collect his bus pass. This is the perfect opportunity to throw off the shackles of the characters he's best known for and try something new; literally no one on the planet wants to see a Rambo prequel starring some washboard-abbed douchenozzle in the lead.

However, I also think Stallone is very good at playing the press game and knows that he'll get Expendables press by dropping hints towards future Rambo/Rocky projects, even if they only exist in fantasy land. Curse you, Stallone! I've fallen into your giant veiny mutant penis arms for the last time!

What is this I don't even
