Back To The Future self-lacing sneakers being auctioned for charity, make L.A. Lights look like a pile of crud.

Those mad shoe scientists at Nike have produced a limited run of Slamball 'Powerlacing' shoes, as worn by Marty McFly in Back To The Future Part II. 1500 pairs to be precise, which are being auctioned on Ebay for charity. And no, they don't actually fasten by themselves like the originals, but they do light up. Better than nothing, right?

Now officially known as Nike Mags, bidding begins at $3000 with profits going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Here's the announcement from Fox himself, which I only recommend watching if you don't mind being upset for the rest of the day:

F...uck.
So I guess that solves the riddle of the mystery tweet by Back To The Future producer Frank Marshall, teasing "something big" in the offing and igniting furious speculation amongst geeks everywhere: another film? The dreaded remake? Who'd have thought he was just talking about some shoes. Not me - I was hoping for an announcement of a sequel to the best movie of all time, Congo.
