Black Panther
Movie Review | Ali Gray | 9th February 2018
One thing the Marvel Cinematic Universe does not need more of is white privilege. Tony Stark with his billion dollar problems. Captain America with his government sanctioned patriotism. Thor, the blonde-haired blue-eyed Norse God with claims to the throne. Peter Quill, the self-appointment Star-Lord, the so-called guardian of the galaxy. We're good for white dudes. Arriving far too late to the party is King T'Challa, a storied hero from Africa with a rich heritage who is finally breaking the unremitting streak of white heroes on the Marvel payroll. Without wanting to disservice the people of colour who have served the MCU well to date - Anthony Mackie, Zoe Saldana and let's not forget Samuel L motherfucking Jackson - Black Panther is the character that the Marvel universe, the movie industry and the entire world needs right now. It's hard to imagine a more righteous movie arriving at a more necessary time.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Movie Review | Matt Looker | 14th December 2016
For all the criticism aimed at Marvel, the thought of a 1-star or 2-star MCU movie these days just seems like an impossibility, and you'd like to think that we could expect the same for all forthcoming Star Wars instalments. Surely there are just too many talented stakeholders invested in the process to allow for any major misfires? And yet, there are valid reasons to fear for Rogue One: it's the first standalone spin-off, consisting of almost entirely new characters; director Gareth Edwards still has much to prove; rumours around the reshoots weren't kind; and of course the recent memory of the prequels is still hanging around like a clingy, irritating Gungan. So does Rogue One give us reason to believe that Star Wars will now always be in safe hands? Or is it just another hollow, unmemorable blockbuster facsimile? Is it a new hope, or just the latest attack of a clone?

This poster is not doing Forest Whitaker's lazy eye any favours
Movie News | Ali Gray | 13th November 2013
Honestly, it'd be like having a Christian Bale poster that plays up his eye wart. Oh, you didn't notice that yet? CANNOT UNSEE.

This is the official Mexican poster for Lee Daniels' The Butler
Movie News | Ali Gray | 5th October 2013
Not sure what my favourite bit is: the cluster of presidential force ghosts, the creepy tree/dead spider in the top left or the fact that I can't help reading the title in the voice of Bumblebee Man from The Simpsons. (via IMP)

The Last Stand
Movie Review | Matt | 22nd January 2013
Arnie's back! Again. But this time he's really back - y'know, just like he used to say his famous saying that he said. He's BACK, and he's older and clunkier than ever so, er... yay? In fact, in this film, he looks less likely to say 'I'll be back' and more likely to say 'Aargh! My back!', amirite? Are we done here? Good, let's move on.

Jude Law will harvest your organs
Movie Trailer | Ali | 29th December 2009
Watch the first trailer for Jude Law's Repo Men, which sounds an awful lot like a recent Paris Hilton movie, but played almost totally seriously. Interested?

The Last King Of Scotland
Movie Review | Ali | 17th January 2007
James McAvoy? So hot right now. There are quite literally a hundred female casting agents out there with damp crotches and dollar signs where their pupils should be. Having lit up the small screen in Channel 4's Shameless, fought poorly costumed evil in the Chronicles of Narnia as the cloven-hooved Mr. Tumnus and been univers...
