Love And Other Drugs
Movie Review | Matt | 20th December 2010
When does a rom-com stop being a rom-com? When it's R-rated? You'd think that the very definition of such a certification would ensure that the usual saccharine sentiment is swapped out for something more substantial. Unfortunately, no amount of F-bombs, extensive nudity and scenes of distressing drama can save this film from all the well-known romantic comedy trappings. So, essentially, this is just When Harry Fucked Sally.

Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time
Movie Review | Ali | 22nd May 2010
Movie rule of thumb #1: if Jerry Bruckheimer's name is on the poster, check your brain in with your coat. Prince Of Persia is typically undemanding summer blockbuster fare - all SFX and stylish set-pieces, but very little in the way of substance. I'm not complaining. These movies have their place. But if you're making a big, dumb movie that invites you to switch off and enjoy, then don't over complicate the plot - Pirates Of The Caribbean did it and Prince Of Persia does it too. It's a Bruckheimer trait.

Brothers
Movie Review | Kirsty | 24th January 2010
Is it just me, or has there not been a good comedy out in months? Thanks very much, Oscar season, for a series of thoughtful, harrowing dramas that put you right off your popcorn in the harsh, cold light of day. Yeah gang, let's all go to the movies on a Friday night! That'll be fun! (*sigh*)

Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time trailer
Movie Trailer | Ali | 2nd November 2009
YouTube, of all places, is home to the first trailer for Mike Newell's Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time videogame adaptation. What say the judges? Well, it's very... beige. And there's lots of sand. That's good, right?

Zodiac
Movie Review | Chris | 22nd May 2007
This latest effort from director David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) is an intensely detailed, powerfully thrilling look into the nature of obsession and the power of fear; a throwback of sorts to the type of films made during the very era it depicts. The film is razor sharp and wholly engaging, filled to the brim with fantastic ...

Brokeback Mountain
Movie Review | Ali | 2nd March 2006
Picture this scenario: A cinema, packed to bursting point on a Saturday evening, punters literally spilling out of the doors and onto the pavement outside, apparently quite prepared to face being hit by passing cars in order to join the queues. What's the reason for this mass cinematic pilgrimage? Potter? Kong? Aslan? Scar...

Movie Feature | Andy | 25th March 2005
There have been many good films about time travel in the past - Back to The Future, Back to The Future 2, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 fave Time Chasers, Planet of The Apes and Freejack. Donnie Darko isn't one of them. Described as "cool", "classic" and "cult" by various beret-wearing critics wh...
