Let's get this out the way from the off, shall we? I find most horror movies all a bit 'samey' - more often than not, it'll be a dull, repetitive case of count the clichés. Needless to say, it's not my favourite genre. But would this remake of the 1973 made-for-TV horror change my stance on the scary movie? In short; no, even if Guillermo del Toro is 'presenting'.

Although I can't stomach cigarettes myself, I'm with Bill Hicks when it comes to the attitude towards the humble cancer stick and those who chew on her: "Non-smokers... I'd probably quit if I didn't think I'd become one of you." It's an ongoing battle between the two warring factions; the non-smokers arguing with the moral high...

How to kill a franchise: Lesson #1
Take one hard-boiled, well-established hero and dress him up in ill-fitting rubber, complete with cod-piece and bat-nipples. Strip away the cool Gothic vibe and replace it with super-gay neon and eye-rapingly cheesy special effects. Finally, have your newly camp crusader spout the kind of shit that George Lucas would balk at, and stand aside as your franchise digs its own grave and dies with its arse poking out of the soil.
