  • Inside Out

    Movie Review | Matt Looker | 26th July 2015

We've all seen the list of Pixar's story concepts throughout the years, right? 1995: What if toys had feelings, 1998: What if bugs had feelings, etc until we get to the Inside Out punchline: What if feelings had feelings? It's an apt joke, not just because you can imagine that this formula for success was actually decided years ago in a boardroom somewhere, but because Inside Out really does feel like the ultimate Pixar film. In terms of fun, emotion, gags and - yes - cries, Inside Out meets the very best of what the studio has done to date, and it does so within a simple, lovable realisation of an incredibly complicated abstract concept. This really is Pinnacle Pixar.

  • The eight lamest "snarks" from Nikki Finke's Emmys "live-snark" (UGHHH)

    Movie Feature | Ali Gray | 23rd September 2013

"Come for the cynicism... stay for the subversion!" promises industry analyst Nikki Finke ahead of her Emmy Awards liveblog - or "live-snark". You want subversion? You want the evening turned on its head? You've got it: Finke posted a picture of host Neil Patrick Harris UPSIDE DOWN. Take that! More depressingly awful put-downs after the jump.

  • No Strings Attached

    Movie Review | Ali | 2nd March 2011

I'm not about to make apologies for No Strings Attached - it's a soulless movie with zero charm and almost no merits; a film which, if deleted from existence, wouldn't even make the smallest ripple in the space-time continuum. However, speaking from Natalie Portman's point of view, I can understand why she made it. After 12 months of hardcore ballet training for Black Swan, she just wanted to slum it. Acting opposite Ashton Kutcher is the equivalent of dropping down a year in school for someone like her.
