Movie News | Ali | 3rd March 2010
Despite his film being a hot favourite at this weekend's Oscars, producer Nicolas Chartier won't be able to pick up any awards won by The Hurt Locker. He's been banned for breaking the rules - by sending an email.

Winners of the 2010 Bafta awards
Movie News | Matt | 22nd February 2010
The Baftas are either a good indication of next month's Academy Award achievers, or just a watered-down version of the Oscars that holds no interest for people outside of the UK. *adopts cheery newscaster voice* Here are the winners!

Sony won't back Moon for an Oscar
Movie News | Ali | 1st January 2010
Officially the fourth best movie of the year, according to some poll or something, Duncan Jones' superb sci-fi Moon won't be supported by studio Sony for an Oscar. (*shakes fist at heavens*)

The Soloist
Movie Review | Matt | 24th September 2009
Mental illness? Homelessness? A man battling all odds to express his extraordinary gift? Based on a true story? Yes, it's 'Oscar Winning by Numbers' and it comes from a bunch of people who are already familiar with the golden baldie, so it's kind of a shoo-in for the Academy Awards.

Oscars Round-Up 2009
Movie Feature | Ali | 23rd February 2009
Many wags have already labelled it 'The Gayest Oscars Ever', and it was hard to disagree when the 81st Academy Awards were opened by a mincing Aussie in a top hat, but a fun night it was all the same. Here's my bleary-eyed take on the night's events. Best Picture: Slumdog MillionaireAlso nominated: The Curious Case Of Benjami...

Revolutionary Road
Movie Review | Anna | 3rd February 2009
Watching Revolutionary Road is a bit like eating sprouts - you know it's good for you and worth it in the long run, but it's a bit of an ordeal. You leave the cinema feeling rather hopeless and bleak. Frank (DiCaprio) and April (Winslet) Wheeler are the perfect couple - glamorous young newlyweds with two kids and a beautiful new...

Rachel Getting Married
Movie Review | Anna | 29th January 2009
Anyone who has recently been stung by the nasty little wasp that was Bride Wars may approach another Hathaway wedding flick with understandable caution. Fear not, because Rachel Getting Married is poles apart from that hollow bitch-a-thon and demonstrates what Anne Hathaway is capable of when presented with a decent and challeng...

Slumdog Millionaire
Movie Review | Ali | 7th January 2009
Despite Chris Tarrant's stupid face, there's no denying that Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is an ingenious concept for a game show. Resist flipping channels for just a few minutes and before you know it, you're yelling furiously at your TV because a man from Surrey doesn't know the capital of Venezuela or punching the air with j...

Oscars 2008
Movie Feature | Ali | 25th February 2008
Another year, another lavish Oscars ceremony; this year's awards were more opulent than Elton John's bathroom and about a shocking as the sunrise. Still, there's no arguing that No Country For Old Men deserves all the praise it gets, and the acting awards all look fairly on the money. Elsewhere, boo to the Academy for jipping th...
