    Movie Review | Matt Looker | 20th June 2017

I don’t envy Edgar Wright. I mean, I do, obviously. He’s stupidly talented, hangs out with cool Hollywood people and totally rocks the kind of facial hair you’d normally only see on a second-year arts grad student. But he is also under an awful lot of pressure to meet impossibly high expectations considering his relatively short film résumé. Think about it: two cult comedy classics, followed by the visually-impressive-but-niche Scott Pilgrim, and then a quick return to close off the Cornetto Trilogy. That’s it. Now everyone is ready to hail this new Edgar Wright movie as the champion of the summer, but what even IS an ‘Edgar Wright movie’?

It's hashtag-InternationalCatDay today, so what better time to publish our review of cat film Nine Lives - in which Kevin Spacey turns into a cat - as reviewed by a cat.

  • Men sit at table in tantalising first-look House of Cards image

    TV News | Ed Williamson | 2nd February 2016

Breaking new ground as ever, Netflix has today released this first look at House of Cards season four, confirming that all 13 episodes will consist of President Underwood talking to RoboCop at a table. The sixth will consist entirely of Frank's acerbic asides to camera, such as "Get a load of this bell-end!" It will then be all anyone talks about for a week because it's on Netflix.

  • Your guide to understanding US politics through House of Cards

    TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 19th February 2015

American politics is a right old carry-on. They have ballot papers designed by Chad Michael Murray and they don't even have a rich family they pay a huge annual salary to nonce off teenage girls and dress up as Nazis at parties. If only House of Cards made it easier to understand WAIT IT DOES

  • House of Cards: The Complete First Season DVD

    TV Review | Ed Williamson | 13th June 2013

Though Netflix have some thinking to do around how they take advantage of social media TV discussion when they release a series with no regular episode schedule, they've chosen a superior flagship in House of Cards.

  • Netflix House of Cards less tainted by spurious, probably misremembered racism than original

    TV News | Ed Williamson | 4th January 2013

A friend of mine once bumped into Ian Richardson, star of the BBC series House of Cards. He apparently said something disconcertingly racist.

  • Horrible Bosses

    Movie Review | Matt | 25th July 2011

You've all had that one boss, right? The one who convinced all your colleagues that you were an alcoholic, had coke-fuelled orgies in his office or sexually harassed you to the point of borderline rape? Nah, me either. The worst I've ever had to put up with is being made to process the quarterly spend spreadsheets a week early. Not so much 'horrible' as 'insensitive to my existing workload'.

  • Shutter

    Movie Review | Ali | 21st May 2008

Another week, another crappy J-Horror remake. A Hollywood do-over of the 2004 Thai thriller of the same name, Shutter follows the divine formula cracked by Ringu all those years ago: preppy protagonists with a dark past are haunted by spooky looking Eastern girls via an instrument of technology. Despite countless horror remakes ...
