  • The nine most sensitive responses to the Eastenders rape episode

    TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 8th October 2014

I admit to not being a fountain of good ideas when it comes to this website. Which is why the opportunity to embed a load of people's tweets about a controversial episode of Eastenders is a ruddy godsend.

  • Top 10 films of our lifetime #5: Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

    Movie Feature | Ali Gray | 22nd September 2014

Like you, I was very disappointed to see that Edgar Wright decided to part ways with Marvel and Ant-Man, because he's a director who is capable of doing wonderful things with a camera; the combination of Edgar Wright, Paul Rudd and the Marvel universe made me feel a little giddy. Still, I can take comfort in the fact that he's basically already made a superhero movie in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, and not only that, he had Beck provide the tunes. Ant-Man Shmant-Man - Ali.

  • Top 10 films of our lifetime #8: Let The Right One In

    Movie Feature | Neil Alcock | 17th September 2014

Number #8 on the countdown of the Top 10 films of our lifetime is the only foreign language film to make the grade. That doesn't mean we're not a continental bunch, however: I've been to Iceland, which is a bit like Sweden, and I walked past a cinema (it was showing Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, which I'd already seen, making me feel like a cinephile) - Ali.

  • The Congress

    Movie Review | Becky Suter | 12th August 2014

Talk about kicking a girl whilst she's down. Just moments after staring longingly at a younger version herself on the poster for The Princess Bride in the opening minutes of The Congress, Robin Wright is scolded by her agent (Harvey Keitel) for continually making lousy choices in her career as well as life, then by a studio head for having the audacity to get old. Clearly The Congress isn't afraid to make a difficult point, but its problem is that it wants to make so many of them.

  • Theatre review: Let The Right One In

    Movie Feature | Matt Looker | 13th April 2014

Remember when Let The Right One In was all Americanised as Let Me In for a new subtitle-ignorant audience and everyone lost their shit? "How dare they take this awesome vampire movie and try to make an awesome vampire movie out of it!" the Internet screamed. Well, now they've done it again, but this time with real-life people acting on a small stage in front of a live audience. Is anyone outraged now? No, because this is theatre, darling. No one can be angry at theatre.

  • Interview: Drinking in The World's End with Edgar Wright

    Movie Feature | Matt Looker | 1st December 2013

I realise this is a 10-minute shot of Edgar Wright talking, but just try to imagine cuts away to me asking the questions. If it helps, I was wearing a green jumper.

Obligatory note: The World's End is STILL out to own on DVD and Blu-ray. Unobligatory note: It's STILL ace.

  • Interview: Drinking in The World's End with Nick Frost

    Movie Feature | Rob Young | 30th November 2013

Nick Frost is only the fourth person I've ever interviewed. He didn't laugh at my questions, he liked my Beastie Boys t-shirt, said 'The Shiznit'. We became firm friends...I think.

Obligatory note: The World's End is out to own on DVD and Blu-ray now. Unobligatory note: It's ace.

  • A few of my favourite tweets from The Wright Stuff

    TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 4th November 2013

Every weekday morning while waiting for the train, I like to use my mobile telephone to look at Twitter, in order to stave off the necessity of reading the book I've had in my bag for the last eight months. At that time of day, my feed is largely composed of people who think it's acceptable to tweet "Good morning!" every day, Rio Ferdinand live-tweeting the school run, and a stream of nonsense from The Wright Stuff account that I have come to believe may be an intentional dadaist art experiment.

  • Merry fucking Christmas!

    Movie News | Luke | 7th September 2013

    All Is Bright poster

    1) Why have they crossed out the word 'bright' and replaced it with the word 'bright'? 2) Why is a Christmas film coming out in September? 3) Why am I questioning a buddy comedy where Paul Giamatti and Paul Rudd channel the Wet Bandits? All Is Bright looks great. (poster via IMP Awards)

UPDATE: Ali has pointed out the scribbled out text says 'bullshit'. Therefore ignore me, I am an idi-oh you already have.

  • The Dyatlov Pass Incident

    Movie Review | Ed Williamson | 20th August 2013

The Hollyoaks late-night special was, on the surface, a glorious thing. Not only would the characters suddenly free themselves from the confines of decency that a pre-watershed airing imposed and begin to say words like "piss", there would also be a strong suggestion that you would see the breasts of the blondest cast member of the age. These goods were never delivered, but they do seem to have been the creative inspiration behind Gemma Atkinson's casting in The Dyatlov Pass Incident.
