Baywatch
Movie Review | Ed Williamson | 24th May 2017
One of the many wonderful things about living on the same planet as Zac Efron is that he knows when and how to take his shirt off. It is a rare talent to look like he does with his abs out, accept that directors are going to want him to get his top off at least twice a film, and then to do so with enough of a sense of self-mockery that you don't think he's an absolute bell-end. Self-awareness is what got him and his co-star The Rock where they are today, and so a riff on Baywatch, sending up how daft it was, feels like just the ticket. So why isn't it sillier?

The Diary of a Teenage Girl
Movie Review | Ed Williamson | 7th August 2015
Bel Powley is a very arresting and idiosyncratic actor, so expect to see her playing a superhero's girlfriend pretty soon. For now though, here she is in a fairly straightforward yarn about a teenage girl who has a bunch of sex. It has some good visual ideas and does a nice line in chiding you for forgetting the seediness of its main relationship, but none of this quite elevates it above a decent watch.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Movie Review | Ali Gray | 12th October 2014
So I finally got old. Morning: doctor's appointment for dry skin. Afternoon: phone calls with estate agents and surveyors and mortgage advisors. Evening: still-aching limbs from a football match played 48 hours previously. I startle awake to find myself sat in a Paramount screening room ready to watch the latest iteration of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a phenomenon I was probably too old to enjoy guilt-free the first time round a quarter of a century ago. "Let's see those hands in the air!" says a company spokesperson, urging attendees to don the giant green foam hands provided for a photo opportunity. I am secretly glad I didn't pick any up on the way in. Because I am old as fuck.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot linked to anarchist group
TV News | Ed Williamson | 12th July 2012
The subjects of a soon-to-be-revived multi-million-dollar merchandising franchise are, it turns out, fervent anti-capitalists looking to bring down society from within. And eat pizza.

Teen Wolf
TV Review | Matt Looker | 15th July 2011
It's sultry, angst-y and bonafide teeny, but is it anything like the Teen Wolf we already know and laugh at? Of course not. They might as well have called it Goonies for all the similarities it bears.

Coming soon: a sultry Teen Wolf
TV Video | Matt Looker | 21st May 2011
Because Teen Wolf was always supposed to be sexy - Michael J Fox was just doing it wrong.

Misfits
TV News | Kirsty | 11th November 2010
It’s repeatedly been called Skins-meets-Heroes, and that’s a fair assessment of E4’s award winning SuperChavs teen drama Misfits, which returns to our screens tonight for its second series. It’s like Skins meets Heroes.
