New Megamind trailer from Dreamsmirks

Yup - more of that face.

Here's the first full-length trailer for new animated feature, Megamind starring (vocally) Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Brad Pitt. Although, to my bored ears at least, Brad Pitt sounds nothing like Brad Pitt and everything like George Clooney. Well, same difference, I suppose.

And it doesn't matter anyway because, what this trailer amazingly doesn't show us is that his character, Metro Man, dies quite early on in the film and this is the basis of the whole plot. Check out the synopsis below:

Megamind is the most brilliant supervillain the world has ever known. And the least successful. Over the years, he has tried to conquer Metro City in every imaginable way. Each attempt, a colossal failure thanks to the caped superhero known as "Metro Man," an invincible hero until the day Megamind actually kills him in the throes of one of his botched evil plans. Suddenly, Megamind has no purpose. A supervillain without a superhero. He realizes that achieving his life's ambition is the worst thing that ever happened to him.

Megamind decides that the only way out of his rut is to create a new hero opponent called "Titan", who promises to be bigger, better and stronger than Metro Man ever was. Pretty quickly Titan starts to think it's much more fun to be a villain than a good guy. Except Titan doesn't just want to rule the world, he wants to destroy it.
So it's one of these "bad guy learns to be good" stories, much like Despicable Me, that other animated film coming out this year, with Steve Carrell in the lead vocal role instead of Will Ferrell. Well, same difference, I suppose.

Still, this could be quite funny - I like the Superman homage/rip-off at the start, and I'm sure there'll be more of the same throughout the movie. In fact, this could be Dreamworks' answer to The Incredibles...well done, chaps, it's only been six years.
