The Norse God of Asgard has landed on Earth, to dick about with Natalie Portman. Sounds like an origin story to me!
Stop!
Hammer time!
First of all, an apology for the above pun. As a responsible movie blogger, I should really know better than to appeal to the lowest common denominator. I would appreciate it if I could just get on with the business of bitching about shitty movies and I can put this whole business behind me.
So, Thor, then. The trailer you see below you is a digital version of the footage shown at Comic-Con over the weekend; an extended five-minute trailer that gives us our first glimpse of the Norse God of Thunder. What do you reckon? Jury's still out round here. I'm thinking the adjective 'Shakespearean' could basically be another way of saying 'highly pompous and utterly ridiculous'.
You know what this trailer needs? A 'suitcase suit' moment; something that makes you think, 'Damn, I need to see this movie immediately'. Because I don't see anything like that yet. I'm intrigued, but I'm not on the hook. And this is a movie that has battling Gods and giant killer robots.
Oh God, it's happening... I'm becoming everything I ever hated.
