The Transformers/Coen Bros Venn diagram
Huh. Yeah, no - that wasn't Steve Buscemi. It just sounded like him.

Gareth Edwards to direct another monster
Have you seen it yet, Chris? I was surprised how much monster action there was. I wouldn't say G-Zilla was relegated to the background at all.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
What Ali said. But also, 3 stars out of 5 doesn't automatically mean 60%. If you really want to break down the value of each star mathematically by percentage, you COULD say that the following applies:

1 star = 0-20%
2 stars = 20-40%
3 stars = 40-60%
4 stars = 60-80%
5 stars = 80-100%

So 3 stars could only be 40%, which you would think is rotten.

More to the point though, 3 out of 5 stars seems like a fair assessment to me because the film seemed average. And, while the film had many good points, I was ultimately disappointed by it so I considered it to be 'rotten' rather than 'fresh'.

But I would also always recommend that, with any review in any publication, people pay less attention to the ratings and summary judgments (which can often misrepresent a much fairer assessment) and focus on the main review and criticisms therein.

Plus, I hasten to add, OPINIONZ. lol.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
For all of IM2's MASSIVE faults, it still felt like it was trying something new in setting up the big superhero-team-up movie, which in a way was still exciting.

And as for it exploring too many avenues, I would argue that IM2's main issue wasn't the number of things it was trying to do, but its prioritisation, i.e. putting The Avenger set-up above its own story. In comparison, Captain America: The Winter Soldier does everything adequately, it's just trying to do too much at once.

But, y'know, OPINIONZ. lol.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty
I was genuinely surprised by the backlash to this film, tbh. It's flawed and oversentimental, but otherwise good, solid all-round entertainment. Can't understand the 2* reviews.

Glad you liked it anyway, Kirsts.

Review: The review of my review of I Give It A Year
Let's nip this in the bud now.

Star Trek Into Darkness and five other spoilery DVD covers
Star Trek Into Darkness didn't underperform. It was a huge success, which is why the sudden move into 'spoiler' territory is baffling. Surely you'd stick with the same approach or make a big deal about it, rather than just nonchalantly drop it into the synopsis.

It's literally like the marketing guys thought "fuck it, it didn't make a jot of difference anyway so who cares?".

Today I learned: apparently Mark Wahlberg played Rogue in X-Men
Also why is Mystique's nose all fucked up? Like she shapeshifted back to front by mistake and she's got half an arse on her face.

10 dumbest things about Man Of Steel
Yes, sorry - I thought that was clear. The issue isn't with the triggered beacon, which is clear and understood, but with what I have called there the 'unequivocal SCIENCE' that involved some nonsensical technobabble explanation about how they got their ship to work.

As you say, it's "lazy" writing and, to which I might also add, "ridiculous" and "wuh?".
