Is this charming South African rapper the new Lisbeth Salander?

Fuck Carey Mulligan: David Fincher is reportedly looking further afield for the actress to play hacker Lisbeth Salander in his remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Meet rap activist Yo-Landi Vi$$er. Charmed.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is probably my favourite film of the year so far, and despite a US remake being depressingly predictable, the fact David Fincher is directing should allay your fears. He's the man who can make even Facebook seem dramatic.
Casting the lead role of Lisbeth Salander is no easy task. The Swedish original had a relative unknown in the role named Noomi Rapace, who punked up real nice and looked genuinely anti-social and threatening. Which is naturally why US sources claimed nicey smiley Carey Mulligan was going to play her American equivalent, her qualifying factors being that a) she has short hair, and b) oh hey, there she in the papers.
Nope, not her. Vulture are claiming that David Fincher has his eye on a young lady by the name of Yo-Landi Vi$$er, a rapper from the group Die Antwoord, whom I hear are a popular beat combo in South Africa.

Yes. That's much more like it. There's some discussion over whether Fincher actually wants Vi$$er for the role - she's not actually an actress you see, although that never stops Michael Bay - or whether he's just interested in her as a visual representation of what his Lispeth should look like.
In my opinion, he's on the right track with this winsome lass: Lispeth as described in the book is boyish, flat-chested, pierced to fuck with a gothic dress sense and, basically, a total mess. Slapping a nose ring on Carey Mulligan would be about as punk as casting Harrison Ford and his earring as Joey Ramone.
