The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will soon be the girl who played second fiddle to Robert Downey Jr (and the girl who made Jude Law seem even more effeminate) in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes sequel.
There's been much speculation about which roles might be made available to Noomi Rapace aka Lisbeth Salander since the huge worldwide success of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Hollywood loves a little foreign winner, and Rapace has been linked with a number of high-profile roles, despite the fact that the actress seems rather non-plussed by her new-found fame.
Well, she finally took the bait: Noomi Rapace has signed on to play the female lead in Sherlock Holmes 2. THR got the scoop, but it's unclear whether Rapace's role will be romantic in nature - here's hoping she elbows Rachel McAdams' 'feisty' and inexorably shit love interest out of the picture. Some sources suggest she's down to play a gipsy woman, because she's from a far away country, obviously.
Here's an idea: what if Rapace was actually Moriarty? Casting a man in the villain role is instant boredom in a mug; mix it up and cast a lady and then you've got my interest. Sherlock purists would probably throw a hissy fit, but I'm pretty sure I could take them in a fight. Just knock their deerstalkers off then punch them in the throat. Elementary, motherfuckers.
