Every inch of this short film is made from awesome.
Ever wondered what would happen if old-skool computer characters broke free from their arcade constraints and attacked the world? You have? Mental.
Well, now you don't have to wonder any more - check out this short film Pixels: Retro Gamers, directed by Patrick Jean, which has now been picked by Adam Sandler's production company, Happy Madison, for development into a feature-length movie.
This already raises questions though. The first of which is: what about a plot? Well, while there are no writers attached yet, apparently the film would be "a Ghostbusters-style action comedy in which characters come out of a video game to wreak havoc in the real world". Take this short film, add Ghostbusters, and what do you have? Me and a wet chair, that's what.
Secondly, will a full-length film get a licence to depict these characters and games? Apparently, the first studio taking an interest in the film is Sony, but does this mean mostly Playstation-based characters will appear? Half the fun of this is that the games are retro. I can't imagine Ratchet and Clank having the same effect.
Still, I'm sure we'll get answers in time. For now, just enjoy:
