Worried that the Resident Evil franchise is getting a little stale? Don't panic, because writer/producer Paul WS Anderson is planning to reboot it. Right after, um... another sequel.
Even reboots aren't what they used to be. Time was, a franchise being started-over meant that something was fundamentally wrong with the concept and had to be rebuilt from the ground up. You can't admit that right before you churn out another sequel. Starring your wife.
If Bloody Disgusting are to be believed, the Resident Evil series is going back to basics once it's finished its current arc, starring Milla Jovovich's genetically-engineered super-soldier Alice. After Resident Evil 4: Afterlife, Paul WS Anderson plans to 'Quit Without Saving?' and create a new game file called Resident Evil Begins. Please insert coin.
The fact that there's a fourth Resident Evil movie in production doesn't immediately fill me with much hope that Sony has it in them to do-over the whole series. But in a world where even George A. Romero can't make decent zombie movies any more, I don't know what to believe.
Check your braaaaains at the door for this one.
