Martin Scorsese is going old school to cast his long-awaited Frank Sinatra biopic: he allegedly wants Al Pacino to play Ol' Blue Eyes, with Bobby De Niro as li'l ol' wine drinker Dean Martin.
Scorsese? Sinatra? Pacino? De Niro? Here we have one of those casting announcements that looks absolutely stellar on paper, but upon closer inspection, it really ain't so great.
The Playlist spotted a quote from Scorsese in Indian paper The Hindu, where he listed his dream cast for his Sinatra bio.

"[I've] yet to spot the actor who can bring back Frank Sinatra alive on screen. My choice is Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro as Dean Martin."There are rumours that Scorsese wants to cast several actors as Sinatra at different ages, which might explain his interest in 70 year-old Pacino. For me, you can mark this one down as a story that would have been awesome ten, maybe twenty years ago. Besides, anyone who saw Pacino and De Niro fumbling their way through Righteous Kill knows they aren't exactly the electric partnership they once were.
In conclusion: nothing is ever as good as you think it's going to be. Right, I'm off to watch the final episodes of Lost.
