Sony has the power!

Another toy-related, memory-defiling film coming your way: Sony has snapped up the rights to make a new He-man movie. All we need now is a live-action Sharky & George and I can officially consider my childhood raped down an alleyway and dumped in a skip.
It's no news that a new He-man was in the works - Warners and Joel Silver had been planning such a film, supposedly titled "Greyskull: The Masters of the Universe", for ages but couldn't agree on a direction for it.
They have now, however, let the film rights slip, making way for Sony to step in and start working on a new He-man flick from scratch. Presumably, this means that Warners' script, which was supposedly a very cool take on the idea, is now out the window.
Given that it had been sitting in development hell for years, don't expect Sony to be too forthcoming with the film just yet - they still have many "believability" issues to mull over.
As far as I can see, Sony's main problem to overcome is that He-man usually wears nothing but gladiatorial boots and what are essentially furry trunks, meaning that this film is competing with the recently-announced Barbie for "Gayest Movie with a Mattel Tie-in".
The only saving grace for this film is that it can only better the 1987 Dolph Lundgren version (with an über-80s-but-you-still-would Courtney Cox). That whole film was such a product of its time that the "Cosmic Key" macguffin was essentially a suped-up synthesiser.
So that's my advice Sony - do away with the sweaty shirtless hunk warrior appearance, and try to avoid period trappings (ie don't include a scene where He-man tries to get to grips with an iphone).
Oh, and please God, don't cast Dwayne Cocking Johnson.
