The Strangers: Prey At Night

If there is one movie trend that I just donâ€™t understand, itâ€™s the continuing popularity of generic horror. I donâ€™t know if itâ€™s because thereâ€™s comfort and familiarity in the formula or because some people just want to see blood and gore no matter what laziness gets them there, but there is obviously a massive audience for clichÃ©d carnage. These are the kinds of people who think freaky masks are cool, who actively root for key characters to die horribly, and who think that the prey/pray pun in the title here is really quite clever.

Don't Be Afraid of The Dark

Let's get this out the way from the off, shall we? I find most horror movies all a bit 'samey' - more often than not, it'll be a dull, repetitive case of count the clichÃ©s. Needless to say, it's not my favourite genre. But would this remake of the 1973 made-for-TV horror change my stance on the scary movie? In short; no, even if Guillermo del Toro is 'presenting'. [What a horrible image - Ed]

Just Go With It

Punishment, I am a sucker for you. There's a theory in my household that you can't enjoy a good film after a roast dinner on Sunday - the senses are all soaked in gravy, so all you can do is haul your ass to the cinema and endure something bland and inoffensive. The kind of film a snooze wouldn't ruin. Something like Just Go With It.
