Lost River
Movie Review | Matt Looker | 8th April 2015
"Hey girl, I made a surreal scary nonsense film because I’m a tortured, sensitive artist. Want to watch it with me? I think you’ll like it. It’s got loads of symbolism about, like, women and sex and monsters and theatre and street lighting. And there’s funny dancing in it. And lots of fake blood. And fire. And lots of bright colours. And a scene where Doctor Who cuts off someone’s lips with a pair of scissors. Want it see it, girl? Hey girl. Hey. HEY. Aww." (*Looks into the distance with sad, longing eyes while lifting up t-shirt to reveal chiselled abs*)

The Place Beyond The Pines
Movie Review | Neil | 8th April 2013
One of the conditions of me joining The Shiznit after closing down my own unbelievably popular and hilarious film blog was that I would become the site's Gosling Correspondent: any and all Ryan Goslingness would have to pass through me before it made it onto the internet. The rest of the team made a bit of a fuss, but when I took my shirt off to reveal my full chest tattoo of Ryan's face, they soon agreed to all my demands. Turns out I didn't need to take my trousers and pants off as well, but still, in for a penny, in for a pound.

The Other Guys
Movie Review | Christopher Ratcliff | 21st September 2010
Before leaving the house this morning to see Will Ferrell's 403rd high-concept comedy this century, I quickly glanced at today's Guardian, the film and music section to be more precise, where the esteemed film critic Peter Bradshaw gave The Other Guys an unprecedented 5 stars. Gosh. Being as I want to be just like Peter Bradshaw (P-Braddy) when I does grow up, I figured I'd have to give it 5 stars too, no matter what I actually thought of the film.

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call - New Orleans
Movie Review | Anna | 19th May 2010
Ah, Nicolas Cage. Regulars to this site will know we're all pretty devoted to the mighty NC. If you're expecting an impartial review you better look elsewhere. It's been a rocky road for Nic of late, even we can see that through the smoke of adoration, but we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief at the news that, along with turning the Christmas lights on in Bath (okay, and a little movie called Kick-Ass), Bad Lieutenant is Cage's best work in an age.

The Spirit
Movie Review | Ali | 3rd January 2009
There's no question Frank Miller's graphic novel Sin City - and the subsequent Robert Rodriguez movie adaptation - glorified violence. In Miller's own adaptation of Will Eisner's '40s superhero serial The Spirit, he's guilty of glorifying something else: tits. Rather than swing with Sam Raimi's light and frothy Spider-Man movies...

Ghost Rider
Movie Review | Ali | 12th March 2007
"Why doesn't the water put out his flames?" For a film about a man who becomes the Devil's own bounty hunter, complete with a flaming skull for a head and a pimped out motorbike, it's not perhaps the most pertinent question for the girlfriend to ask, but ask she did. The answer is because Ghost Rider is a comic-boo...

Hitch
Movie Review | | 2nd April 2005
Seeing as he made his name as the happy-go-lucky Fresh Prince, it's perhaps rather odd that we don't see Will Smith starring in more romantic comedies like Hitch. He's done the bio thing with Ali, the action thing with Bad Boys and I, Robot and even the serious, 'I'm an actor' thing with Six Degrees of Separation. It's a given...
