Man Of Steel
Movie Review | Ali | 14th June 2013
Wow. That was my first reaction upon exiting Man Of Steel. Not necessarily 'Wow' in the sense that I had been overly impressed, but 'Wow' like I had been totally exhausted by the experience and felt so light-headed my brain couldn't quite process words with more than one syllable. Now I've had time for my synapses to cool, I can downgrade 'Wow' to 'Huh': though Man Of Steel is epic in the truest sense of the word, it pummels you so hard with its epicness that you don't have the time or the spatial awareness to notice its flaws. Maybe it's the fact I saw it cold, purposefully not having watched any trailers or promotional material beforehand, but flying blind made for an interesting experience – and dare I say, I perhaps enjoyed it more than others might due to that same lack of preconceptions.

Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound! Also able to create miniature versions of himself and kiss like a date rapist!

Five possible easter eggs in the latest Man Of Steel trailer
Movie Feature | Matt | 31st May 2013
Because, let's face it – comic-book fans will only be happy if they can spot unnecessary nods and homages in the film to prove that they can appreciate it on a much better level than your average cinema-going shitmuncher.

Immortals
Movie Review | Ali | 10th November 2011
To look at it, you might think Immortals has no idea how ridiculous it is – characters with glistening muscles and mountainous pectorals swing around their hugely phallic swords while wearing gold lamé hotpants, like the most expensive porn parody ever. The problem is, director Tarsem Singh knows exactly how ridiculous it looks, which means not only is it one of the campest movies of the year, but one of the most vain, too. Oddly, though, you can't take your eyes off it – it's like watching the butchest float on the Gay Pride parade crash in super slow-motion HD.

The Superman Project
Movie Feature | Ali | 8th August 2011
You may or may not have seen the first official image of Henry Cavill as Superman from The Man Of Steel this week. Here it is. I won't be looking at it, or anything-else Superman-related for that matter, until its release in 2013, as part of a self-enforced Kryptonian diet – an experiment to experience a blockbuster knowing as little about it as possible.

I'm sorry, are you ok? Sometimes I shout when I get excited. You don't have to look at him really, but it would be nice if you did.
