Review: Point Blank isn't... pointless, but draws a... blank in...uh
Movie Review | Luke Whiston | 22nd July 2019
It's finally happened: I've watched a film I can't find an angle to wring several torturous paragraphs out of. That's not to say there's anything offensively bad about Joe Lynch's new action flick Point Blank - there's not - but there's nothing particularly notable to write about either. I'm at a loss for opinions, but even worse than that I'm at a loss for words, and as a film blogger can only exist if there are words to scroll past to the star rating, I can already feel myself fading away...

Parkland
Movie Review | Rob Young | 18th November 2013
The assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22nd 1963 is still a source of huge debate. As the 50th anniversary approaches, investigative journalist-turned director Peter Landesman cares not for conspiracy theories, second gunmen, magic bullets, grassy knolls or book depositories. Instead, he's just happy to brag about how much more he knows about JFK than we do.

Detachment
Movie Review | Ed Williamson | 11th July 2012
'Elegiac': one of those words of whose meaning you've never quite been certain, but you're fairly sure you'd know the thing it describes when you saw it. Now, I reckon Detachment is pretty elegiac. Oh, and if the promise of a dictionary definition's not enough for you, this is one of the best films I've seen all year. Just saying.

Whip It
Movie Review | Anna | 11th April 2010
Brace yourself for an education in jamming, whipping and blocking courtesy of Drew Barrymore and her fictional roller derby team. Essentially, roller derby is a sport for people who don't like sport; it's the anti-sport sport, attracting the girls who never got picked to be in the team and got sneered at by the jocks and cheerleaders. In other words it's the perfect set-up for a traditional underdog story.

The Mist
Movie Review | Ali | 2nd July 2008
First of all, forget any lingering thoughts you might have of the recent remake of John Carpenter's The Fog: the only thing it has in common with The Mist is shitty weather. Adapted from the Stephen King novel and released in November in the US, it's been awaiting a UK release for months - countries like Estonia, Latvia and even...
