Review: Game of Thrones bows out burning bridges, own fingers, everything
TV Review | Luke Whiston | 21st May 2019
So now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Game of Thrones are at an end - two of the most popular, costliest and consistently epic franchises to ever exist in film and TV - and we've chewed over when and how to talk about them online, are we at some kind of 'spoiler event horizon' or a 'spoiler singularity'? I don't know either, just wanted to say something that sounded clever. Tits and willies and dragons eh, cor!

The Boss
Movie Review | Ed Williamson | 9th June 2016
You probably learn more about how comedy works through watching a bad one than a good one. Not that that's much consolation when you've shelled out thirteen quid. The Boss isn't terrible, as anything with Melissa McCarthy in it would struggle to be, but it falls far enough short to be instructive.

Pixels
Movie Review | Matt Looker | 30th July 2015
One of the many questions that spring to mind while watching Pixels - such as "Why doesn't any of this make any sense?" and "What would it take for Adam Sandler's tired Deputy Dawg face to register an iota of genuine emotion?" - is: Who is this film supposed to be for? As a PG movie packed full of fairly obscure 80s references, you can only assume that its core audience is nostalgic parents who won't mind it when, on the journey home afterwards, their child takes a brief pause from unpacking the latest expansion kit for their favourite immersive online RPG to ask: "What's a Donkey Kong?"

DVD weekly: Game of Thrones - season one
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 5th March 2012
Because it's the biggest TV DVD release of the year, because I got sent the whole thing on Blu-ray and because there's not much else out this week, here's a bumper edition of DVD weekly focusing on one release and one release only. That's right: series five of Doc Martin.

Game of Thrones no longer a game, actually more of a skirmish
TV Video | Ed Williamson | 25th November 2011
Just think how good our Game of Thrones content will be once I've actually seen an episode. Here, have a season two first-look video, uh, sire. Or my liege, or whatever.

With Life's Too Short premiering on BBC2 tonight, small people are pretty big at the moment. Time, then, for what will be the first in a ... what? Yes, yes, it'll definitely be a regular series: DWARF WARS.
