Review: Glass is a fragile follow-up with wasted promise
Movie Review | Matt Looker | 17th January 2019
No one knows the importance of a good ending like M. Night Shyamalan. He has built his entire career on them. He knows that many film flaws can be forgiven along the way if, right before the credits roll, he can suddenly wow an audience so that they leave only talking about that ending. It’s a circus approach to storytelling, saving the big top narrative stunt for the final act, but it works. In the case of Split - an otherwise divisive film - it worked so well that the ending itself manifested a whole sequel. But no one should be in any doubt that it’s a cheat. A big last-minute reveal teasing a forthcoming crossover might be an original way to have a shock twist, but it doesn’t automatically make for a good ending to what came before it. Just as it doesn’t automatically make for a good beginning for what comes next.

Bruce Willis' new generic thriller revealed to be a Predator sequel
Movie Feature | Matt Looker | 11th August 2016
Curiously, the exciting reveal for the remake of Predator II - previously known to nobody that cared as 'Marauders' - was made with its Romanian poster. I really don't think much of the new-look Pradators though. (via IMPA)

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
Movie Review | Ali Gray | 20th August 2014
Nine years after the pages turned on Robert Rodriguez's first Sin City movie, and with at least three major parts recast, you can't help but think this Dame To Kill For is sashaying into town long after everyone has lost interest. Showing no signs of added maturity - if anything it's even more juvenile - this slick-yet-soulless sequel features the required quota of girls, guns and garrotting, but it's unlikely to win over those who were unimpressed by the same stiff sideshow almost a decade ago.

No one told Bruce Willis we're not doing casual Friday any more
Movie News | Ali Gray | 28th June 2014
We all know Bruce Willis stopped caring about his movies about two Die Hards ago, but he could at least have worn a shirt and tie for the poster shoot. The Prince gets minus poster points for the unnecessary helicopter and the mysterious sparks. Also because it looks like it was made in a lunch break. Which, coincidentally, is when Bruce Willis filmed his cameo.

Die Hard Week: 10 most memorable incidental Die Hard characters
Movie Feature | Ali | 15th February 2013
John McClane? More like Shmon ShmcShmane. There'd be no Die Hard without Bruce Willis, this we know, but just as important to the franchise are the incidental characters: the single-serving supporting roles who make the most of their miniscule screen time. Stand down, McClane: it's time to big up the little guys.
