The End of the Affray: How The Football Factory's ending is just incorrect
Movie Feature | Ed Williamson | 7th October 2015
I rewatched The Football Factory on Film4 last night. I don't harbour any real dislike for it as many do; elements of it are misunderstood and better realised than it gets credit for. I want to talk about its ending, though. You cannot end a film like The Football Factory does. I don't mean it ends badly. I mean it ends wrongly.

The nine most sensitive responses to the Eastenders rape episode
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 8th October 2014
I admit to not being a fountain of good ideas when it comes to this website. Which is why the opportunity to embed a load of people's tweets about a controversial episode of Eastenders is a ruddy godsend.

EXCLUSIVE: Eastenders punching scene storyboards revealed
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 8th May 2014
With the Eastenders writing team steering the soap in a distinctly hitty-facey creative direction, we have gained access to some storyboards of the key scenes. (Spoiler alert: we haven't.)

Four months back in Albert Square and I never want to leave
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 2nd May 2014
It's been something of a revelation to me, as the worst kind of TV snob who likes to watch and discuss "high-end", mainly American, drama, that four months back in the snug embrace of Eastenders has been quite so rewarding.

Vendetta
Movie Review | Ed Williamson | 21st November 2013
As the trial of Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson rumbles on at the Old Bailey, not even the halls of Shiznit Towers are free from corruption or the grim face of malign editorial influence. "Please don't give it more than three stars," I was instructed by the editor of this organ, Mr Alistair Gray, in response to my email expressing how much I'd enjoyed Vendetta. "Or I'll have to close the website." But I refuse to be silenced. Vendetta is a four-star film, and I hereby stake my journalistic reputation on it. That's how you spell 'journalistic', right?

One door closes, another one opens
TV News | Ed Williamson | 1st October 2013
Sure, Breaking Bad might be over. But Danny Dyer is becoming landlord of the Queen Vic at Christmas, meaning Eastenders will immediately become as good as Breaking Bad, if not better. Walter White wouldn't have even got near a slot on Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men. Slag.

No, Vendetta producer Jonathan Sothcott. Just no. ಠ_à²

A 20th Century Michael Caine, you say? No, that would still be the actual Michael Caine.

Calling it: The worst film of 2013
Movie Feature | Matt | 20th December 2012
Maybe this is presumptuous. After all, you shouldn't judge a film by its trailer. Or its cast. Or its poster, synopsis and tagline. But all of these together mean that we can make a pretty well-educated guess: this film is going to be so painfully horrendous, it will singlehandedly destroy all of mankind's efforts towards a better society and mark the end of our civilisation. Again, it's just a guess.
