"Boardwalk Empire? No, never heard of it," says Frank Vincent
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 16th October 2014
Closer research reveals this is the 2010 film Chicago Overcoat, repackaged for its UK DVD release in 2013. It's almost as if they were trying to capitalise on Boardwalk Empire's popularity over here. (Though it isn't especially popular over here, so nice job all round.)

Man very good at pretending to be other man
TV News | Ed Williamson | 14th October 2014
I should like to draw your attention to the fact that a 29-year-old Yorkshireman called Marc Pickering is currently playing a young Nucky Thompson in Boardwalk Empire's flashback scenes, and giving the best Steve Buscemi impersonation you're likely to see.

Period detail on new Boardwalk Empire not what it was
TV News | Ed Williamson | 3rd August 2014
They've got the clothes out of storage again but the cost of rebuilding the sets was a bit toppy so they just shot it in the car park.

300: Rise Of An Empire
Movie Review | Becky Suter | 5th March 2014
"THIS! IS! SPARTA!" Or rather, "THIS! IS! THE! AEGEAN SEA!" as the next chapter of the pumped-up fight fest that was 300 moves the action to a fresh – and very wet – battlefield. Set during the same timeline of the suicidal Spartans' clash at the Hot Gates, director Noam Murro (with previous 300 helmer Zack Snyder producing) presents the slightly less-exciting but still fun Battle of Artemisium that takes place almost exclusively at sea. Caution: the first two rows may get wet.

Too soon: the end of Empire
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 13th January 2014
This year's fifth season of Boardwalk Empire will be its last. Most good shows these days have the knack of stopping just at the right time, but for me, this one could have run and run.

Top 20 TV shows of 2013
TV Feature | Ed Williamson, Matt Looker, Rob Young, Luke Whiston, Iain Robertson, Neil Alcock | 31st December 2013
In years to come, we will remember 2013 as the year everything changed. Danny Dyer is now in Eastenders, and across the land all else has ceased to matter. But look upon the works of this medium, now so wholly transformed, and you will see more than this. And you might think it handy that some berk put it all in a list and bid you read it.

Michael Shannon: pretty much just mucking about these days
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 29th September 2013
Whenever I watch Michael Shannon on Boardwalk Empire these days I get the distinct impression he's just goofing off.

Well done for looking old, Boardwalk Empire poster
TV Feature | Ed Williamson | 9th August 2013
Funny thing: Boardwalk Empire's all about old-timey people and stuff that happened to them in, like, olden times and that, but none of the promotional stuff's ever been made to look old before. I guess Instagram filters were less widespread this time last year. (Trailer here too, which would look a lot more authentically Prohibition-era if it wasn't on YouTube.)

Of COURSE Harrison Ford will be back for more Star Wars. He loves it
Movie Feature | Matt | 27th April 2013
In other news, amazing behind-the-scenes photos from the Empire Strikes Back are amazing.
