Review: Inheritance digs up the past, but you'll wish it remained buried
Movie Review | Luke Whiston | 19th October 2020
I was reading some comments under the Lily James gossip stuff recently, and someone said they couldn't tell the difference between James, Emma Roberts and Lily Allen. Lily Allen? But she's a singer, not an actress. And then I realised the person was an American and only knew her from films, not Top of the Pops. And then it got me thinking about initial impressions of people, and how I could work that into this review, before realising it's actually Lily Collins in the film and not Lily James. So my point is there are too many women.

Review: Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile is none of those things
Movie Review | Ali Gray | 7th May 2019
About ten years ago, when I was making my first cautious foray into screenwriting, I came up with a concept for a slasher movie with a difference. The main protagonist, you see, would be the killer, but the audience don't see him as a deranged serial murderer, they see him as a mentally disturbed person being harangued by groups of sexy young teens who keep humping each other all over his abandoned summer camp or something. It was going to be very edgy with a shocking twist with a capital 'T'. Then one day I sat down and tried to write it and realised not only was it impossible to fully conceptualise, but the concept was also, in fact, terrible. Not to worry though: looks like someone eventually made a film out of my shit idea.

Mirror Mirror
Movie Review | Rob | 3rd April 2012
The trailers for Tarsem Singh's lavish interpretation of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs totally sell the film short, filled with cheap puns, singing and dancing. On this evidence, the grittier Lord Of The Rings-esque Snow White And The Huntsman - due out in June - looked set to leave its colourful rival out in the cold, dark woods. Don't be put off just yet. On closer inspection, Mirror Mirror might just be the fairest of them all: an utterly delightful and faithful re-telling of the classic fairytale – a dazzling treat for the eyes from start to finish.
